News sensationalism

News sensationalism most certainly does harm the intergrity and the reputation of a media source. I personally believe if they take it so over board that it just turns the general public off. The celebrity gossip stuff that the 24-hour channels run is a great source of evidence. They take a problem, report it and then exploit it. Anna Nicole Smith could either be smiling in her grave because of the attention or she coud be crying because even after she's gone, they (the media) won't leave her alone. My personal definition is a media outlet extending its reach with glorified extremely loud content to obtain shock-value.
